Celebrating 50 Years of Fandom with Comix!
This year—this month!—marks five decades since the events depicted in When We Were Trekkies actually occurred. In many ways, this was the absolute peak of Star Trek fandom for me and my merry band, with the Fourth International ST con and the newly christened “Star Trek Lives” event bracketing our appearance on Geraldo Rivera’s Good Night America on Jan. 23, 1975. We were invited to be in the audience for an interview with a reluctant William Shatner (watch the opener, then jump to the 42:00 mark for a vintage treat.)
I’ll be going on the road again this year to promote the comic series and meet with Trekkies past and present—my calendar is beginning to fill up! Seems like a good time to save some dates and make some plans, beginning this Sunday in Concord CA at the East Bay Comic Con, where I'll be tabling. If I don't see you there, maybe we'll meet somewhere else across the universe...
